We’ve got three people signed up to perform at August’s Bards, and while they’re all great, that’s just not enough. Especially seeing as we hand out three prizes. I mean, really, I might as well leave the voting tokens at home. So unless we get up to the minimum eight performers in a hurry, we’ll have to consider cancelling the August 15th Bards. And no one wants that.
In related news, the reserve books for the August 15th Bards are now open! E-mail us or RSVP on Facebook to claim a chair!
Now, in unrelated news, the FASS Theatre Group is hosting its own talent/variety night on September 2nd in UW Theatre of the Arts. The show is for first-year students, so the only way to get in is to be a first-year student, a frosh leader, or a performer.
In case you didn’t get the hint, I’ve been asked to canvas for performers for the occasion, as well as to host the event (seeing as I was FASS’s last director and have some experience in this regard). Check out the attached message from Diana, FASS President, for more details.
So, here’s how it goes:
1. If you want to perform at Bards on August 15th, E-MAIL US!
2. If you want to come to Bards on August 15th, E-MAIL US!
3. If you want to perform for FASS on September 2nd, E-MAIL US!
Hope to see you on the 15th!
Russ

Subject: [FASSmod] FASS @ Orientation Week!
Hi guys,
I’m really excited to annouce FASS’ involvement in Orientation Week 2008! We’ll be hosting a Variety Night at Theatre of the Arts (in ML) for the Residence Orientation Committee.
What we need are acts! Lots of acts! Musical acts! Non-musical acts! Improv acts! Anything goes, within reason of course.
We’re also (with the help of our lovely Chief Script Writer and writing team) going to have a scripted piece (maybe 20 minutes or so) to perform, so we’ll need people to be involved in that.
The time commitment for this event is one night only: Tuesday, September 2nd. We’ll get a chance to rehearse in the ML theatre in the evening, and then the Variety Night starts at 9:45.
Please send me an email if you’re interested in any of the following:
- doing an act (let me know briefly what it is and who’s in it)
- acting in the scripted piece (we may have one more rehearsal before the actual day)
- helping to write the scripted piece
- being in improv games
- generally helping out
This should be a lot of fun, I’m really excited about participating in Orientation Week (for the first time since 2004, which was awesome)!
Hope to hear from lots of you,
~Diana Chisholm
